Hello! My name is Freya Soffredine, and I’m a 23-year-old designer from Traverse City, Michigan. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design from Alma College, where I explored many creative fields and discovered my passion for using design as a way to inspire and uplift others.

My journey in design began when I was little—art was my way of expressing how I felt and telling my story. As I grew, graphic design came naturally to me because I loved creating pieces that reflected who I was, my emotions, and my family history. Over time, this helped me see design not just as artwork, but as a powerful language of self-expression and connection.

That perspective shaped two of my biggest passions: design and teaching. I’ve always known I wanted to be a teacher—I just wasn’t sure which subject or age group was right for me. Over time, I realized that being a hands-on learner myself makes me especially suited to teaching in the arts. I discovered that my true goal is to become a high school art teacher, where I can connect with students who are mature enough to be challenged, yet still open to exploring and expressing themselves. I love the idea of talking with high schoolers on an adult level, while still guiding them as they grow into confident young artists.

Now, I’m excited to bring that same creativity, care, and perspective into the classroom as an Assistant Teacher in Graphic Arts. I love supporting students as they develop their artistic voices, and I look forward to collaborating with teachers to create a positive, inspiring, and inclusive learning environment.
